The amount of beaming (angular coherence) in GRBs is uncertain, but the amount of variability (temporal coherence) in GRBs is well known. What if the two are similar? This "Equipartition of Complexity" conjecture is rooted in simple physical arguments and implies the degree to which microbeaming might one day be detectable between distant satellites and/or gravitational lens measurements of the same GRB.
